Dr. Wood's passion is the local church.  He has served as Senior Pastor at Grace Church of Glendora since January 1991.   Previous pastorates, beginning in 1980, were in Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

Gene is committed to raising healthy churches, developing strong pastoral leadership and utilizing practical, biblically grounded principles to expand the Kingdom of God.

He is the author of a nine-week discipleship series Advancing Your Faith, and two ''turnaround books'': Leading Turnaround Churches (2001) and Leading Turnaround Teams (2004).  These books, along with Leading Turnaround Training Seminars, are being used to strengthen and mobilize churches throughout the United States and abroad. His most recent book is titled "Going Glocal" (2006). This book takes a fresh look at how local churches can accomplish global ministry regardless of their size, location, and resources. It will challenge your thinking and many status quo perceptions about world mission.

Dr. Wood's commitment to both local and global missions is a distinguishing mark of his ministry.  He has served in numerous positions at the state and national levels for the Conservative Baptist Association (association of churches).   He was 1998 National Spokesman for CBAmerica and was Chairman of the Board for CBInternational from January 1999 through June of 2002.  He serves on the Board of Jesus Hope of Romania and is Founder/President of Grace for China.

Dr. Wood earned an A.A. Degree in Law Enforcement from Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington; B.S. Degree from Western College in Salem, Oregon; Th.M Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas; and was awarded a D.D. Degree by Western College in 1998. 

Gene and his wife, Carol, were married in 1975.  They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
